How to buy ?
Every year Bretagne Enchères holds nearly 40 auctions across our various specialties.
Auctions are open to everyone. Anyone can bid on and acquire exceptional items in a wide variety of domains and price ranges.
Bretagne Enchères offers several ways to participate in our auctions:
1. Bid in person in the auction room
2. Bid remotely by absentee or telephone bid
3. Bid remotely on an online auction platform
The lot is briefly described by the auctioneer or the expert. Then the auctioneer starts the bidding at the opening price. This is generally around the lower estimate indicated in the catalog.
The auctioneer announces bids coming from people in the room, absentee bids, and auction platforms.
Once the bidding competition is finished, the auctioneer concludes the sale with the strike of a hammer accompanied by the word "sold" ("adjugé").
If you are the successful bidder for the lot, a staff member will come to meet you to give you a paddle corresponding to your client number in exchange for a payment method and an ID.
At the end of your purchases, you can head to the accounting department to proceed with the payment.
In addition to the hammer price, you will need to add our auction house fees, which average 25% incl. VAT (unless exceptions apply).
Bids are acceptable if they are set at least at the low estimate of the lot.

Access to the auction is free and does not require registration. You may arrive whenever you wish, stay for the entire duration of the sale, or just for a specific lot.The lot is briefly described by the auctioneer or the expert. What is an absentee bid?
It is a written agreement indicating the number and description of the lot you wish to bid on. It can be a firm absentee bid or a telephone bid. In both cases, the auctioneer or a member of the Bretagne Enchères team represents you during the sale at no additional cost and in complete confidentiality.Bids are acceptable if they are set at least at the low estimate of the lot.
How do I submit an absentee bid?
Whether firm or by phone, you have 3 ways to submit an absentee bid:- Fill out and send the online form available on our website
- Send a request by email to art@bretagne-encheres.com
- Fill out the paper form provided during the exhibition preceding the sale
- In order to process all requests, we close absentee bid submissions three hours before
- the start of the auction.
To allow us to process your purchase request, please send us a

- Two forms of identification: ID card, passport, driver's license
- A bank account statement (RIB)

How do the Interenchères and Drouot Digital platforms work?
You must first register directly on your chosen platform.
By searching for "Bretagne Enchères" in the search bar, you will reach our dedicated area with our upcoming sales and corresponding catalogs.
You must then register for the desired sale.
On the day of the sale, simply click on "participate in the auction" and bid via the platform.
How to bid on Interenchères or Drouot Digital?
You must first register directly on the platform.
You can identify in advance the sales that might interest you by browsing these platforms. All our auction catalogs are available for viewing there.
On the day of the sale, simply click on "participate in the auction" and click to place your bids.
Does bidding on these platforms incur additional fees?
Bids placed on these platforms incur additional fees:
- 1.8% incl. VAT on Drouot Digital
- 3.6% incl. VAT on Interenchères
These fees are in addition to the Bretagne Enchères buyer's premium.
4- Collection of purchases
