Every year, Rennes Enchères Bretagne organises 1 sale dedicated to the Antiquarian & Modern Books speciality.Do you own a manuscript, an antiquarian book, a first edition, a modern book, an artist's book, etc., and would like to know its value?
Aliénor de Blignières and our expert Sylvain Langlois can give you a free and confidential estimate.
Art market trends?
From the incunabula of the Middle Ages to the first editions of the great writers of the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, from the fine bindings of the Maison Hetzel for the novels of Jules Verne to the creations of Art Deco, not forgetting artists' books, France is a leader in the field of bibliophily.
Bibliophiles all have their own favourite field: literature, history, politics, travel, science, the arts, etc. They are usually interested in a particular period or writer. Some seek out first editions.
Editions illustrated by famous artists, from Gustave Doré to Picasso, are very popular. Finally, many bibliophiles are seduced by the quality of the bindings, such as the marvellous Art Deco bindings by François-Louis Schmied.
