Collective - Imaging in Rennes. Rennes, S.E., 1926/1934, and - Lot 165
Collective - Imaging in Rennes. Rennes, S.E., 1926/1934, and printing in Rennes S.E., S.D (circa 1930). That is to say 2 volumes. The first volume, small in-8°, bound in full calf with title on the front cover, gilt fillet and ermine in spandrels. A name is indicated at the bottom of the first plate "E. Riviére ". Small rubs on the spine, more pronounced on the headband. Album composed of press clippings pasted on older rag paper. The articles in this album concern cartiers, dominotiers, Rennes incunabula, engravers etc. Most of these articles, about 70, are taken from "la vie rennaise" between 1926 and 1934. The second volume entitled " l'Imprimerie à Rennes ", in-8° period binding in half basane racine, spine with gilt ermines, title page in red morocco. Work realized like the first one: cutting of press articles on printing, stuck on sheets at the beginning of XIXth. 127 pages mounted on tab. These two collections were made up by Ernest Rivière, publicist, journalist and historian from Rennes (1869 - 1935) who actively participated in the newspaper Ouest-éclair. Curious and unique.
