René-Yves CRESTON (1898-1964) - Lot 29
René-Yves CRESTON (1898-1964) Plate with geometric design Polychrome glazed earthenware Manufacture Henriot Quimper, 1927 Signed on the reverse with the monogram "RYC" and "HenRioT Quimper 164". Minor wear. Diam. 24.5 cm These plates, from the "Populaire décor Celtique" service, were probably produced in very limited numbers, if at all, and were exhibited in 1927 at the Saint-Nazaire Applied Arts Exhibition, conceived by Seiz Breur as a tribute to Jeanne Malivel following her death. These works date from a very productive period for the couple Suzanne and René-Yves Creston, whose "four-handed" works were sometimes signed indifferently by one or the other of the couple. We would like to thank Madame Saphyr Creston for her valuable information.
