Imitation of Jesus Christ. Paris, Curmer, 1856/1858.
2 volumes, large in-8°, period binding in full burgundy morocco for the first volume, and burgundy half morocco with corners for the second. Spine ribbed with gilded title and tomaison, all edges gilded. Maroon moire endpapers for Volume I, with gilt garland framing the inside back covers. Used rubbing, particularly on the nerves. Volume I (1856), consists of chromolithographed leaves mounted on tabs. 12 ff. n.c. - frontispiece 399 pp. - 7 ff. n.c. (table). Clean volume with very rare spotting. Volume II (1858) 143 pp. -51 pp. 8 ff. n.c. - 16 pp. (Danse macabre by Holbein)
All leaves are mounted on tabs. Fairly clean volume with some foxing, particularly on the very first leaves. Superb work by Curmer and the quality of his edition of the Book of Hours of Anne de Bretagne.
