silver eagle (800). LONDON, Stephen SMITH, 1885. Baluster-shaped, standing on a circular pedestal, topped by a domed lid with hinge, spout and handle. The upper part of the body is decorated with leafy garlands and a row of navettes. Swollen middle section combining owl figures and dense oak foliage on an amati background, two large plain cartouches, cartouches with interlacing falls, a motif repeated in the lower section alternating with front-facing owls on a lattice background framed by triple volutes. Circular, domed base alternating simple and ornate water leaves. Filleted moldings separate the decorative registers, a tray decorated with leaves, ovals and shells, and a straight handle ending in a leafy scroll. Domed lid decorated with foliage on a bitter background, hinged and surmounted by a naiad seated on a dolphin. Unstable hinge. Height 44 cm; Width 18 cm; Weight 1568 g.
