CAFETIERE EGOISTE in silver (950). BORDEAUX, Adolphe ARIBAUD, 1830-1838 (lid), silversmith undetermined ?M (body), 1819-1838. The oblong body stands on three lion paw feet with long, ornate palmettes. It is encircled by a laurel frieze enhanced by a beaded molding, as is the rim of the lid. The spout ends in a horse's head harnessed with flowers. The projecting lid is bordered by a laurel frieze and topped by a plain grip on a circular leafy terrace. The curved ebony handle is flattened at the top. Handle and seed unstable. Small shock. Height 17 cm; Width 14 cm; Gross weight 260 g.
