PAIR OF KNIVES, gold (750) and mother-of-pearl, gilt silver (800) and steel. Departments, ap. 1838 (horse head). In a shagreen-trimmed CASE. Mother-of-pearl handles, yellow, rose and green gold ferrule and base, decorated with leafy friezes within a banding and fleuron at the base. One with a gilded silver blade (hallmarked with a crab), the other with a steel blade hallmarked and marked K/LECOMTE. One blade is slightly missing and has cracks in the gilding. Oxidation on steel blade. Case worn, broken and missing. Length 19.7 cm; gross weight (knives) 57 g.
