A mid-19th century French 4/4 violin in the style of the Grandjon workshop bearing an apocryphal label of Dominicus Montagnana Cremonae Venetia 1750, spruce top with fine, even rings, two-piece maple back with lovely slightly rising waves on either side of the joint, ribs in the same wood as the back, various fractures on the top including a core fracture to be revised, two accidental drill holes on the head slide, orange-red varnish with yellow underglaze, 362mm in antique case with 2 beewood study bows.
