VIAUD Lucile born 1993 Very large civet, 2021 Hand-blown Glaz marine glass, crackled glass On Venetian base Engraving on back of piece Unique piece Diameter 45 cm Cives are circular shapes emblematic of the history of glass, originally used in the design of stained glass windows. The symbolism of the disc, omnipresent in the Atelier's work, is reflected in this piece as a fragment of stained glass dedicated to the home. Like a sundial, it allows us to appreciate each of the lights of the four seasons as the day goes by. Crackle glass is made by immersing the piece being blown in cold water. The glass is then reheated to melt and absorb the surface cracks only, leaving a smooth outer surface.
