Mémoire qui veillent, 2025
Oil on paper mounted on wood American box frame, natural wood exterior and matte black interior, handcrafted in fir wood
18 x 19 cm
In a soft, vaporous atmosphere, two female figures emerge from a cameo of blues and purples reminiscent of the mythical depths of Ys. The orange light that illuminates their faces creates an intimate contrast: one, pensive, seems immersed in an interior elsewhere; the other, in three-quarter view, offers a serene, protective presence. Their costumes, inspired by Bigouden tradition, dissolve into the scenery like memories surfacing. Around them float fish and salmon, symbolizing a return to their roots, while three hydrangeas anchor the scene in the land of Brittany.
