Michel GUILLERME (born 1948) - Lot 142
Michel GUILLERME (born 1948) "Point de Croix" (Cross stitch) Mural made from paper, knitting needles and thread 85 x 72 x 5cm With this work, Breton artist Michel GUILLERME invites us to measure the time of creation and rethink the value of the slow gesture in the age of the immediate. The piece explores the memory of know-how and workshops. Silk paper (sewing patterns), a temporary and delicate material, forms the basis of the composition, bringing lightness, vibration and poetry. The knitting needles, deployed in radiance, shift the work towards a more sacred, almost solar symbolism. Finally, the spools of yarn form a central axis, a backbone for the whole. This mural is methodical, powerful, almost totemic, on the borderline between craft and sculpture.
