Herbette (Charles Louis, Jean, François). - Lot 101
Herbette (Charles Louis, Jean, François). La Saga des Herbette, une famille d'ambassadeurs en France de 1867 à 1960. Set of 3 A4 binders containing a large number of letters in plastic sleeves. Family correspondence, an authentic reflection of a family's feelings and customs over the course of a century. Impossible to summarize more than a hundred letters between family members. Diplomats, ministers, state councilors, sons taking over from fathers. Jules Herbette, French ambassador to Berlin from 1886 to 1896, lived in Paris in a private mansion on rue de Fortuny, vacationed in Pornic with numerous personalities, including Victor Schoelcher in 1848 with his friend Louis Herbette, where the family built a property in 1856 near the Noëveillard lighthouse, built in 1848 and overlooking the marina. The property is now a restaurant, etc. Nice research work on handwritten sheets inserted at the beginning of the first binder. All documents are original and unique. Very rare and beautiful set.
