Dust jacket with author, title, and date in gold lettering; spine sun-faded. Exquisite geometric mosaic work in various colors ranging from dark brown to light green; spine with author, title, and date in gold lettering; endpapers and half-leather linings in pearl gray calfskin. Covers and spine intact. Binding crafted and signed by Paul Bonet, dated 1962. Binding perfectly preserved within its slipcase. Copy on standard paper from the original edition, justified and bearing the number 565. Only 567 copies are said to have been printed, in addition to the 23 on Holland paper. Collated and complete: 1 blank folio followed by 20 pages, including a half-title page, a frontispiece by Picasso, and the title page. At the end, 4 unnumbered folios. A beautiful copy of this first edition, which remains highly sought after. It is considered a manifesto of modern poetry, closely associated with Cubism and a precursor to Surrealism. Very clean and free of foxing.
