We are pleased to present, on Monday, October 26, a wonderful book sale featuring both antique and modern works, beautiful illustrated books from Brittany, volumes in fine morocco leather bindings crafted by master bookbinders, the first edition of *Les Fleurs du mal*, as well as typescripts by Boghos Nubar Pasha (1851–1930) (an Egyptian politician).
Also on display will be a significant collection of 18th-century maps of Brittany, including numerous maps of Belle-Île.
These items come from two libraries and various sources, including that of Mr. Joseph Le Rouzic, a bookbinder and later a proofreader, who was passionate about “beautiful books.” For 40 years, he scoured the bookstores and flea markets of the department in search of rare books, primarily on Brittany: its authors, illustrators, bookbinders, history, and customs. A compulsive and meticulous collector, he amassed over 500 rare books during those years, more than 200 of which will be offered for sale on October 26, 2026, at Bretagne Enchères.
